National FM interviews Glaswegian musician Allan McCarthy. Allan is a reformed character these days but back in the day he was imprisoned in some of Spain's most notorious prisons. Allan talks here about how he slipped into life of crime rather than choosing it as a career path and equally found a path away from crime through music when by chance he found, while in prison, he had a talent for music. Somehow he ended up winning a talent competition on Spanish TV with his band Berlin90 while still in prison. You could not make it up...

And for one former narco-trafficker jailbird turned rocker, it comes 30 years after he nearly hit the big time with a band he formed while in a Spanish prison.
Former Costa del Sol resident Allan McCarthy, 61, once found minor fame as the front man for Berlin 90 (named after the wall which had just fallen), even playing live on national television from jail.
While performing shows for Spanish television and radio, the gregarious Scotsman penned the song Runaway from his cell.

Faces 2: The Underworld Through My Lens – A Dark Tale of Crime, Power, and Fear. In 2010, I published Faces, a photo book that became infamous for its raw, unflinching look at the UK’s criminal underworld. As a tabloid photographer at the News of the World, I had access to some of the most notorious faces in crime. Faces went on to become the most widely recognized crime photo book in history. But that was just the beginning. Last year, I released The Story of Faces, my own reimagining of the original work, peeling back the layers to show the men behind the headlines. Now, we’re gearing up for The Story of Faces 2. This isn’t about glamorizing criminals. Faces 2 is about diving deep into the real world of gangsters, hitmen, and mobsters, exposing the terrifying reality of the UK's darkest figures and beyond. It's a hard-hitting, no-holds-barred picture essay—these aren't your typical Hollywood bad boys.

The Criminal Connection podcast delivers a unique insight into the nefarious underworld hosted by true crime actor-producer, The Podfather, Terry Stone. With guests including well-known actors, writers and directors of the very best crime films of recent times as well as the criminals whose stories are told in films and books, and the law-enforcement officers who have worked behind the scenes to bring gangsters to justice.
